If you're like me, holidays are frantic.
And complicated recipes that require a lot of measuring and time add to the holiday stress.
I like flexible ingredients that can be altered to taste, are fast and easy for holidays.
Recipes that taste good with little fuss.
> Steam Beans in a little water.
> Shock in cold water and pat dry.
> Sautee some Bacon pieces with Onions.
> Remove Fat
> Add equal parts Butter and Flour (start with 1T each) for roux and brown.
> Mix in a little Milk or Heavy Cream.
> Melt Cheese in this mixture (Fontina, Parmesan, Cheddar whatever you like).
> Fresh Grated Nutmeg
> Lemon Zest
Mix in the Beans and Top with Chopped Salted Walnuts.
These are always a hit at our holidays. Recipe can be altered many ways to taste. Think about adding bits of red peper raw for a crunchy bite or omitting the cheese or using different nuts.
